Background : In 1919 the Rex is thought to have first occurred, The first time the Rex was shown was said to be in 1924.The Rex is known for the use of its fur for coats and trim on clothing, developed as a valuable pelt breed in the early 1900s . The Rex got its name after the rex gene that causes the a rabbit's whisker and eyebrows to curl however the coat is to short to show curling,

Exhibitors judge fancy rabbits on body type while furred breeds are judged on the quality of fur.

Physical Attributes:

Larger sized rabbit, luxurious Velvety, plush-like fur, with upright ears, the head is fairly thick, but it is not particularly short. The body is medium in length and rounded.

The guard hairs are the same length as the undercoat, and the coat is very thick making a velvety coat
